Important Sanskrit Words in Buddhism: The Three Characteristics of Existence

In the teachings of the Buddha, the three characteristics of existence are the aniccsa-anattá-dukkha triad, i.e., impermanence, non-self and suffering. Let us look at these and the state of sukkha, or joy. The teachings of the Buddha are about how to get out of the circle of suffering, that is the duḥkha state, and to attain or dwell in the sukkha state, that is, joy.
